I will be removing all the Amp wiring from under the hood to clean it thoroughly as well. I took another look, I'm gonna be hosing down the entire engine compartment with simple green at some point this week, all kinds of dirt grease and grime, and leftover mud from a few weeks ago. This is really irritating, and the misses has to take my truck out of town next week, so i would greatly appreciate it if any knowledgeable members here can help me get this squared away by Monday morning, I would be very grateful, the last thing I need is my girlfriend calling me from 100 miles away telling me she can't get into my damn truck! Thanks guys! I'm also going to check my ground at the A/C compressor mount bolt. Does this sound like a plausible answer? I'm going to spend sometime this weekend under the truck tracing wiring and cleaning any and all contact points. A friend of mine thinks the issue is the motor is worn out. If I give it a small lift as the step retracts, it will go all the way up to the intended location. It leaves a gap of bout 3-4 inches compared to my driver side. Then I noticed my passenger side step, it isn't going all the way up. After driving home, the step once again worked perfectly fine! Annoying. I then tried to check the control unit under the hood, and I found that the previous owner did not secure it above the brake booster, he left it hanging down in the corner of the firewall next to the fender. I'm 6'10, so I don't need to worry about that, but its annoying as hell. I repeatedly tried both doors but to no avail, the steps would not come down, even if i pulled the step. Yesterday I had an appointment and when I went to get back in my truck, it did it to me. I tested both front and back doors numerous times and it only did it once, and after I closed the door and reopened it came right back down, no problem. Later on I when I got there I tried my driver door, and the step came down first try. She was able to use the passenger side front door to get in the cab and make it home. The truck is on 38.5's with CST's 9-11" lift, and my girlfriend is 5'4. She repeatedly closed both doors over and over and it just wasn't happening. The other day she called me and told me that the fold down step would not come down on the driver side, even if the driver rear door was opened up. So this past week, I've been taking the girlfriends kids to daycare, and I've been working on her car while at work, so I have been driving her car, and left my truck with her. Okay, obviously there is some crossed wiring somewhere, correct? I downloaded the install instructions, and my friend has some spare time to pull out the power probe and hopefully we'll get that passenger rear door working correctly. The other issue was that when I open my passenger rear door, no light comes on in the cab, and the DIC did not register the door as opened, so the step would not come down, however, when I open the passenger front door, the DIC says BOTH my passenger doors are open. After a few days this issue cleared up and I was no longer worried about it. The solution was just close the door and reopen, worked every time. When I first bought the truck they gave me a little hell, but the only issue was that I would open a door and the step would try to pop out, but after about an inch of movement they would fold right back up, and other times it wouldn't even move an inch. I bought my truck with the amp steps installed already.
